As St. Joseph’s University, New York’s Long Island campus gears up for the 2025 holiday season, it began the festivities with an annual Friendsgiving potluck just days before Thanksgiving.
Hosted by the Best Buddies club and the Student Government Association (SGA), students were encouraged to stop by the Student Center on Nov. 20 and enjoy great food, music, games and the company of others.
“Friendsgiving was a great time to connect with other clubs and organizations and give back to the SJNY community,” said Victoria Corcoran ’26. “Serving the food allowed us to act on having a humble and gracious heart, and I hope that everyone was able to enjoy the time spent with other clubs.”

The Long Island campus saw several clubs and organizations come together to host the event.
This event brought together students from a variety of organizations, creating a welcoming space for connection, collaboration and community empowerment.
“Although I am affiliated with being the president of NSSLHA (National Student Speech Language Hearing Association), I felt that I was a part of something bigger during this event. Serving food and talking with many different people during this event really opened my eyes to how open clubs are to bonding with others outside of their club,” said Allison Sauer ’26.
She continued, “Having a joint event really shows how personal and tight-knit our St. Joes community is. I had a great time, especially spending time with my clubmates and sharing memories over food and games.”
Only in its second year, Friendsgiving is quickly becoming a tradition that helps to connect students on the Long Island Campus, fostering unity and inclusiveness.
